Many Chinese parents in the United States send their children to local Chinese schools, which teaches English in weekends or at nights. They wish that their children can at least communicate with their relatives in China. More and more schools and colleges in the United States provide Chinese classes because China has become more and more important for the world economy and culture. Here we list some Chinese schools in the United States.

Chicago North Chinese School (“CNCS”) was founded in 1981 with the mission to provide a superb learning environment in Chinese language and culture for the next generation of ethnic Chinese families and non-Chinese community members in the Chicago area. The CNCS offers Chinese language courses and culture related activities for students ranging from kindergarten to high school and adults as well.

Founded and staffed by bilingual teachers in 1998, Acme Education Group is dedicated our efforts to provide the best Academic Enrichment Program to the local community. Acme Education Group pledges to help each child grow in the multi-culture and multi-language environment in the bay area with self-esteem, honesty, discipline, and love. The program is focused on promoting Chinese language and culture, enhancing English reading and writing skills, developing stronger mathematics skills as well as other subject areas.

All of teachers in Bay Valley Chinese school have had at least three years of teaching experience. Most majored in Chinese Literature or Education while in college, and have taught Chinese in the U.S. for five or more years. They are all fully capable of bilingual teaching (English-Chinese). 

Berryessa Chinese School, located in the Berryessa area in northeastern San Jose, provides the youth of the Bay Area an environment in which they can thrive in to learn Chinese language and culture. Classes are offered in both Cantonese and Mandarin for pre-K to 12th grade, plus cultural classes for students and adults. Currently, there are over 1300 students in 64 language classes and 30 cultural classes ranging from Chinese calligraphy, painting, martial arts, soccer, badminton.

Best Friends Enrichment Center offers preschool programs and after school programs. It also provides fun learning experiences during the summer time with summer camps and programs. It is committed in bringing out the best in every student by helping them discover the writer, artist, mathematician, scientist, or athlete in them.

The Contra Costa Chinese School, located at the Diablo Community College in the East Bay, was established in 1976 in Walnut Creek by a small group of Chinese families who wanted to provide Chinese language instruction to their American-born children. With the devotion and contributions of numerous volunteers over the past 30 years, CCCS has expanded into a respected and well-established Chinese language school for students in grades K-12. The School also provides a complete pre-college Chinese language program, which is equivalent to many college level curriculums.

The Davis Chinese School was founded in 1981 by a group of parents who wanted their children to learn the Chinese language and to become more familiar with Chinese culture.  With time, our program expanded to include Arts and Crafts, Folk Dancing, Basketball and a 500 article (growing) Library.  Our major annual activities include Chinese New Year and Holiday Season celebrations, Academic Showcase, Parent Seminar series, as well as annual field trip and camping trip.  In addition, we perform annually at the UC Davis Asian Pacific Cultural Night, Davis Heritage Day Celebration and marching in the UC Davis Picnic Day parade.

Huaxia Chinese School (HXCS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching Chinese language (Mandarin) and Chinese culture classes using simplified Chinese characters and Pin Yin (Chinese phonic system). Being the largest of its kind in the United States, the school consists of 18 branches, serving over 6,000 students in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut areas. HXCS admits students aged 4 and up of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It dose not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administrated programs.

Originally founded in the summer of 1993 by the Chinese Students and Scholars Association of University of Maryland at College Park as a Chinese language school to serve the university community, the school was registered independently with the University and later with the states of Maryland and Virginia under the current name--Hope Chinese School. It provides an educational setting for the people of the Washington metropolitan area to learn the modern Chinese language using Pin-Yin (phonetic writing system) and simplified characters. Hope Chinese School strives to encourage students to cherish Chinese culture and heritage, foster and enhance friendship among Chinese-American communities, and contribute to the mutual understanding and appreciation of Chinese and other cultures.

Chinese School of San Diego aims to provide a well rounded program of studies of the Chinese language and its cultures. Throughout the program emphasis is placed upon the development of fluency in Chinese listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation. These are developed with a broad, activity based approach. Students at CSSD develop a keen understanding of and appreciation for China, its language, history, culture, festivals and traditions.
