If you are in a non-Chinese environment, it is very difficult for you to study Chinese systematically. As far as I know, English is the sole language as a second language taught in class systematically in the whole world. Even for those Chinese in a country like US and Canada where most of people speak non-Chinese, their children study Chinese in class for at most half a day in the weekend. For people whose mother language is not Chinese, it is very expensive to study in China or other countries and areas where Chinese is a major language. However, if you can get the help from a professional Chinese teachers or tutors, you can improve your Chinese much more quickly than teaching by yourself. |

Many Chinese parents in the United States send their children to local Chinese schools, which teaches English in weekends or at nights. They wish that their children can at least communicate with their relatives in China. More and more schools and colleges in the United States provide Chinese classes because China has become more and more important for the world economy and culture. Here we list some Chinese schools in the United States. Chicago North Chinese School (“CNCSâ€) was founded in 1981 with the mission to provide a superb learning environment in Chinese language and culture for the next generation of ethnic Chinese families and non-Chinese community members in the Chicago area. The CNCS offers Chinese language courses and culture related activities for students ranging from kindergarten to high school and adults as well. |
