In 2000, some Chinese economists predicted nine most profitable businesses, most of which are related to the commerce industry, in China in the future: household electrical appliances, telecommunications sector, house interior decoration, the real estate sector, private cars and related businesses such as car maintenance and car washing, tourism, fast-food industry, and products for the elderly and women. In the past years, all of the predictions have become true.Â
In many cities, without a two-bedroom or three-bedroom apartments, it is difficult for a man to get married. To meet people's demand, most of apartments in China are sold without interior decoration. Household electrical appliances are important components of interior decoration. Because the price of a car can be as low as tens of thousands of RMB, even people in a small city or town buy cars for private use. Related services such as car insurance, maintenance, decoration, washing, and so on have become popular though expensive. Services similar to those provided by the American Automobile Association (AAA) in the US have entered the China market. With more money to spend, many people like to travel to other cities, provinces, and even countries. Investment into the consumer markets has become an important focus by even venture capitals. National and even international brands of consumer products and services have emerged in China. |
